Recreation is the experience that results from freely-chosen participation in physical, social, intellectual, creative and spiritual pursuits that enhance individual and community wellbeing. It has been proven that recreation can help to reduce obesity, diabetes, anti-social behaviour, social isolation and negative impacts on the environment. There is also evidence that recreation positively impacts tourism, helps to attract business, enriches neighbourhoods, and encourages environmental protection.
